Jewels of the Sea

This week's diva challenge 306 was posted on 3/06! I find that ever so AWESOME! The challenge was to use Lily Moon's pattern, Amphora. This was my first opportunity to draw this lovely tangle... as I experimented with it I realized I wanted to emphasize the feeling of the sea that it gave to me. I selected a tan tile and decided to use sea colors, blue and gray for my ink. Instead of using the first line of the pattern with the diamonds I started with circles to feel more like pearls/jewels to go with my sea theme. As I tangled, my mind wandered to a magical place under the sea where:

The sea waves
crashed
and rolled
gathering and
selecting
beautiful
mother of pearl
ornaments...
a gift.

This tile is titled, "Jewels of the Sea."

Thank you for stopping by for a visit today... It's always nice to have guests. Please be so kind as to leave a comment, I'll be sure to pop on over and return the favor! Have an amazing, art filled day!

Hello 2017...

... I'm ready!

I have my new bullet journal set and organized. I have my word of the year. (Details in a future post.) I am excited about growing in my life and in art. I have set daily goals to be a good, kind, creative person.

Last night I completed the mussel shell that I've been working on here and there for the past week or so. I know I could keep fidgeting with it... but I'm telling myself it is good enough and time to move on to the next project.

I appreciate all who visit, and am always grateful for any comments! I hope you have a wonderful, art filled day!

Happy New Year!

Happy Holidays!

It's hard to believe how quickly this year has passed. I am very grateful for my many blessings this year and am looking forward to another wonderful year ahead.

A couple of days ago I had the chance to play with some of the new toys I received for my birthday this year.   I. had. a. blast!  Here's a shot of my mussel shell work in progress while I explore and figure out how to use the new supplies... I have just started layering and blending. I definitely have quite a few layers to go. I am in love with my new supplies! I'll write more about them in the new year.

From our home to yours... I wish you all a magical holiday season filled with joy and love!

A Blustery Day...

As I drove home from yoga, I admired all the leaves blowing around in front of me. Yellow, oranges, and reds moving around in unison... It was beautiful. I wished it was possible to sketch while I drove, alas, probably not a very good idea. :)

After pulling into the driveway and getting out of the car,  I found this gorgeous leaf on the driveway. I immediately knew that this would be my object to sketch for the colored pencil assignment in Koosje Koene "klass" this week. My reminder of a lovely "Blustery Day."
